Hi ? I'm Clotilde and I have been teaching and tutoring French for five years!

After teaching at university, I've gone back to the 1-1 format of tutoring which I find both more efficient and more enjoyable.

With two years of teaching French at university level and one year teaching in a secondary school, I have garnered a lot of professional experience which I've then used as a tutor.Since I started, I’ve encountered many different levels, and I’ve enjoyed teaching all of them—from retired people to primary school students!

Personally, I love reading (especially Sci-Fi and fantasy), nature, cooking, and travelling. I also like to talk about politics and social/geopolitical issues.

TEACHING METHOD

Do you struggle with building sentences? Knowing what pronouns to use, how to connect clauses, or which past tense is adequate?

With me, you can acquire complex grammar all while having a conversation! I offer a contextual approach, with games and authentic documents in addition to oral production. The contextual approach is both more efficient and more fun than your typical textbook lesson!

A typical lesson is structured around conversation and three or four activities based on your needs. The atmosphere is laid back so that you have the best conditions to express yourself.

My qualifications in FLE (French as a foreign language) from the Alliance française will guarantee you sound methodological lessons, following the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Moreover, I have first-hand experience with French A-levels and can guarantee support with spoken French and French essays for AS and A-levels.

All my lessons are personalised and based on your needs, whether you are looking for support in your French journey or need specific help with school.

Although I will adapt the pace to your needs, I will also make sure you progress in your practise of French by setting a lesson routine including vocabulary and grammar, and regular homework (if wanted!).

All my lessons are based on Google Docs, which I send before class and which you can keep afterward.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching French at secondary level as a French language assistant in Northern Ireland. I specialised in A-level preparation and essay writing. Then I became a French lecturer at the University of Bath in the UK, specialised in spoken French, grammar, and exam preparation, for two years.

I then took up tutoring for a more personalised approach. I have a lot of experience in spoken French, A-levels and AS-levels preparation, teaching grammar, DALF and DELF preparation. I have also coached students to obtain their TCF B2 certification. I have a wide range of students, from primary school children to retired people, and I love adapting to them all!
