My lessons are relaxed, encouraging and built entirely around you. We start by finding out where you are and what you want — whether that's reading, writing, grammar, comprehension or simply speaking with more confidence — and I build a clear, personal programme from there rather than working through a rigid script. In a typical session I'll explain a concept simply, show it with real examples, and then get you doing it, because you learn English by using it, not just hearing about it. If something doesn't land the first time, I'll explain it a different way, and then another, until it clicks — there's always a way in. I give honest but kind feedback, celebrate the wins, and finish every session with clear next steps so you always know what to practise. With 40 years spent writing, explaining and communicating for a living, and O and A Levels in English and English Literature, I bring both a genuine love of the language and the patience to make it feel approachable rather than daunting. I've mentored over 100 people, from nervous beginners to working professionals, so I'm used to adapting to each person's pace and style. Lessons are online, so we can work together comfortably wherever you are, using screen-sharing and shared documents to make everything clear and interactive. Above all, I want our sessions to feel supportive and genuinely enjoyable — because confident, curious students make the fastest progress, and there's nothing I enjoy more than watching that progress happen.
