Most importantly, my lessons are a space where you can ask questions, make mistakes and develop confidence. Biology can feel overwhelming at times, but my job is to break it down, make it manageable and help you see your progress.
My lessons are friendly, focused and completely tailored to the individual student. There is no one-size-fits-all approach – we will identify where you are now, where you want to be, and what is currently getting in the way.
A typical session combines clear teaching of key biological concepts with active application and exam practice. We might start by breaking down a difficult topic using diagrams and questioning, check your understanding through retrieval activities, and then work together on increasingly challenging exam questions.
A big part of my approach is helping students understand how to think like a biologist, rather than simply memorising information. We will work on interpreting data, applying knowledge to unfamiliar contexts, using biological terminology accurately and understanding exactly what exam questions are asking you to do.
With over 10 years’ experience in education, as both a Biology teacher and senior A-Level leader, I have extensive experience of assessment, curriculum and supporting students with very different starting points and aspirations. I currently teach A-Level Biology alongside my role as Director of A Levels for one of London’s largest A-Level providers, so my teaching and understanding of the demands students face remain firmly rooted in the classroom.
