I believe that lessons should be more about doing than about book learning. I like a more practical approach to learning a skill like guitar, singing or piano. You can only get better with practice, real practice.
In my lessons, the ratio of learning is split between 75% practical and 25% theory. If you know theory, you know practical, but if you start with practical then your ear can help you work out music theory as you go along. This makes the learning process much faster and more enjoyable.
