A newly graduated history student hoping to expand into teaching history in depth.

I've had experience with teaching students through teaching lessons through work experience in English (both Language and Literature), History and Religious Studies in Secondary School, and had experience speaking with prospective students to university in my time as a student ambassador, explaining the workings of a university degree and the experiences of student life and living with both students and their parents. I often teach through clear examples of a concept and subject and through participation in order to maintain clarity of concepts and topics.

History of course is my speciality, with knowledge in several eras and centuries, with particular focus on Early Modern and Modern History. I can cover a wide range of different regions (such as American and European history) and many themes within, from the broadest subjects such as the Tudors and the rise of the Nazis, to the history of media and entertainment and the history of transportation.

My teaching style will follow that which is similar to the structure of a seminar: call and response between myself and the tutee. I will initinally cover key concepts, themes and skills, in which they will be engaged with directly to allow for further thought and contemplation, to deepen the understadning of the taught material, and to ensure it remains rememebered. The content of the syllabus perscribed will of course be the main focus, but skills necessary for the study of history will have just as much emphasis. This can ranghe from historical essay writing skills, source analysis and the thinking processes of how to tackle historical questions will be a key focus in my teaching. This is to make sure history to the tutee doesn't simply become exclusively a memory test of remembering facts, but instead gain a proficency and a profound confidence in historical understanding and skills, in order to creat a passion and interest in history, which will cultivate their skills as a budding historian and student as a whole.
