I am an experienced teacher who spent a year teaching English as a second language to Chinese students. The classes I taught were one on one, however, I also have experience teaching groups of children. The method that I used for these classes was TPR, although, I have also used many props such as toys and flashcards in order to make the learning process smoother. It is my belief that children learn most potently when surrounded by the things that interest them such as their favorite books, games, toys etc. This is the reason why, in my classes, I strive to make the environment as fun as possible (I also play the guitar and sing which can be very beneficial when learning). Another important factor that is often overlooked by most teachers is the opinion of students. Students need to feel safe to express their own opinions. This is the reason why in my classes children are asked follow-up questions about the topic of the class or their own interests and hobbies. Classes that practice conversation are often overlooked, however, in my classes I strive towards making children use their foreign language as often as possible. The pacing of the classes depends on the students themselves. I understand that not all students are the same which is why I strive towards devoting as much time as possible to a topic and explaining it in detail. The most important thing is for the child to learn the subject. I hope that you liked my presentation and that I will see you soon in class.
