Advert description
Hi, I’m Lisa – a PGDE-qualified teacher and international educator with over 10 years of experience working in schools, universities, and museums. I hold an MSc in Museum Education and specialise in personalised, engaging English tutoring for learners of all ages and abilities.
I’ve worked across a range of cultural and international schools, supporting students with diverse outlooks, expectations, and learning needs. This experience has shaped my inclusive and adaptable teaching style, rooted in strong communication and a deep understanding of learner motivation.
My sessions are well-paced and responsive. For younger learners, I use short, engaging activities with word games, puzzles, concrete materials, and visual supports to make literacy meaningful and fun. For older students, I use text, object-based learning, and critical thinking strategies to deepen understanding. I help learners evaluate different levels of work to apply skills in real, reflective ways.
I provide immediate and useful feedback in every session, with a focus on praising effort as well as attainment. This helps build confidence and resilience while supporting long-term progress.
Whether I’m preparing students for National 5 or Higher English exams, developing academic writing at university level, or supporting primary literacy, I bring creativity, clarity, and care to each lesson.
My strengths lie in listening closely, building strong rapport, and staying responsive to the needs of my students and their learning goals. Lets take the sting out of studying! I tutor online and in person in the East Kilbride and Glasgow areas.
