My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, musical interests and goals. I teach piano and violin, working with beginners as well as more experienced musicians.
Alongside developing solid technique and learning repertoire, I encourage students to understand how music actually works. Depending on the student, lessons can include improvisation, playing by ear, rhythm, harmony, sight-reading and practical musicianship.
My background combines classical and jazz training, so lessons can range from traditional classical repertoire to jazz, contemporary music and improvisation. I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident and independent musicians rather than simply learning pieces note by note.
For younger students, I use creative exercises, simple improvisation and rhythm-based activities to make lessons engaging while building strong technical foundations.
I recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with First Class Honours in Jazz Piano, and I also have professional classical training in violin.
Lessons are friendly, practical and adapted to what you want to achieve — whether that is learning your favourite music, preparing for exams, improving technique, improvising, or simply enjoying playing an instrument.
