In my ten years of teaching I have planned and delivered lessons in a wide range of subjects. Where possible, I prefer face-to-face teaching and learning but I also have experience of teaching remotely during Covid, when many of my lessons needed to be delivered online via Teams. I would be happy to travel to students who are local to me and teach in their homes or could provide online support for students who live further away.
I have a range of resources and strategies to support basic understanding in literacy and maths and can tailor my lessons to the learning needs and styles of my pupils in order to inspire and engage them. I believe that learning should be fun and should tap into the specific interests of the child wherever possible.
I have taught for three years in Year 6 and am familiar with the process of preparing for and undertaking the Year 6 SATs and also have four years of experience teaching in Year 3 and 4, where my students undertook the Year 4 multiplication check. I have consistently had positive feedback from children and their parents about support that I have offered as a class teacher and how confident and prepared the children in my class have felt about undertaking these assessments. I am used to working with children with children with a wide range of SEN and SEMH need and have worked hard in the past to build positive and supportive relationships with children who find it difficult to attend school or who struggle to access or retain mainstream teaching.
In terms of my own qualifications, I have five A-Levels, in English Language, English Literature, Psychology, French and Maths, as well as a first class degree in English Language and Literature and a PGCE. I have previously taught in Derby and in Exmouth but will be studying for a master's in Psychology at the University of Exeter, which is why I am not a full time teacher this year.
