Ben Yates

My name is Ben, I am a Durham University student studying Economics and Politics. While I was studying for my maths A - Level I began to understand the tricks of the trade that now looking back i realise were the reason I made it to the position I am in. These tips and tricks are exactly what I want to provide you with straight away so that you can develop and work on them. I use a format of understanding the person before deciding the way at which she would approach the lessons. Therefore I begin with a complimentary lesson to get to know the student better this helps the student to feel more comfortable and helps me to plan out where we are and what we should aim for. I will then use each lesson to study separate topics, while using similar topics together to create a cohesive flow to the lessons. I am very encouraging and do not expect people to understand things the first time. This is where I will go through with the student step by step and work at which line of working the student has become stumped on. This then allows me to focus in on the problem and find questions that allow us to practice that particular problem. Another thing I use is exam questions as we can all agree that exam questions are written oddly, I believe getting used to how the exam writers write questions is key to getting the top grade and can also be the difference of those few marks needed to pass.
