The first step to effective studying is finding out what methods help you retain information and learn the most. Understanding what you're learning will not only help you know the content, but will also help you create your own ideas based on it (a vital skill for English). I also aim to make my students interact with the content, making them engage with the literary context that helps them better understand the context in which the novel was written (A-level and GCSE). Lastly, the mark scheme. I make sure that my students are able to cover each and every mark scheme point by the end of their time with me so that they can confidently go into their exams.
