About me

I try to make my lessons interesting and rewarding by targeting students' own needs and setting short and long term targets. I take a friendly and supportive approach - students are sometimes under confident and missing bits of learning due to large class sizes and/or a reticence to ask questions in class. I try to make my lessons interesting and rewarding by targeting students' own needs and setting short and long term targets. I take a friendly and supportive approach - students are sometimes under confident and missing bits of learning due to large class sizes and/or a reticence to ask questions in class. This is an opportunity for learners to realise what they CAN do and then go on to improve their grades.
I use online platforms like Zoom to teach, finding the chat box a useful tool to communicate in writing. I send resources via email or by sharing them on line. Learners are asked to do homework (when and if appropriate) and email that back to me. We then go over the work in the first few minutes of the lesson. In the later stages of tutoring with exams looming, i use past papers to enable learners to fully understand what is required of them. I am a past examiner for AQA and am very familiar with how examiners mark.
All this is flexible and I am willing to adapt to students' own needs and requirements. I have found my approach very successful and have received many highly positive reviews of my tutoring, confirmed by learners achieving improved grades across the board.
