Hello / Bonjour / Hola / Namaste !
OVERVIEW
Native/bilingual English-Hindi speaker. With my degree in French and Spanish, coupled with 2 years of working and studying abroad, I bring cultural nuance and contextual relevance to language teaching: the kind from real-life, not from textbooks. Often, the phrases that people say in other countries is not what is written in textbooks. This is something that a lot of language learners trip up on and get confused by. To be a strong linguist and competent communicator, you need to master this.
WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK WITH ME
Fun and engaging, whether it's group cohorts of personal in 1:1. I have taught all ages from children (nursery-aged up to 10+) and adults (casually and for professional reasons too).
FORMAT
It depends on the person as I like to tailor my approach. By and large, I explain a concept visually and verbally, there is an interactive exercise (could be verbal, auditory or visual) and then I give (the dreaded) homework! Although, my students seem to enjoy the homework I set out for them, so it is not as dreaded. I try to include fun projects as homework, such as listening to/translating songs (meaning, not necessarily word for word), media clips and the occasional worksheets.
I am a fan of focus and rest for my students, so I teach in pomodoro chunks: 25 mins on, 5 min break. I have experience of teaching neurodivergent students, too.
FUN FACT
A student of mine won the 'most improved' award out of her entire year group of 93!
