I learned Spanish intensively and immersively during a gap year in Madrid, reaching a B2-C1 level on the CEFR scale, and am currently studying it at university. I speak clearly and fluidly with a neutral and easily understandable accent, and am confident in both conversational matters and more specific topics. My belief is that the way languages are taught in many schools is oftentimes ineffective and lacking in methods that create interest and develop long term proficiency, and I hope that by tutoring in the way I was taught, I can help learners gain confidence with speaking Spanish in a way that will be genuinely useful when faced with everyday situations and conversations with native speakers. The classes will focus on immersive learning, in which English is avoided as much as possible during sessions to rewire the "translate to English" default that is seen in many classrooms around the UK, and textbook topics will be given real-life contexts that relate to the student's own experiences and interests, forming a deeper connection with the language and setting them on the path to fluency!
