I use collaborative methods with strong focus on past paper questions and problem solving. This includes interactive questions/ quizzes and testing frequently to learn how to apply content to different problems throughout the year.
I understand the importance of learning how to study and exam technique at a high school level and am enthusiastic about helping students learn skills they can carry through their academic careers.

Repetition and describing content in different forms from the methods used in class can help students understand and remember the essential points for their exams. I want my students to feel confident and curious about the content they are learning and feel that my skills through working as a scientist in environmental settings, as well as my degree in chemistry, help me greatly with piquing interest in exam content.

As a scientist, I like to contextualise and help students understand the “why” behind the content they are learning. Finding ways to help engagement and give the work a tangible focus has always helped me, and is a method I like to focus on in my lessons.

I am keen to have more people find passion for science and have a strong focus on mathematical and analytical techniques for solving problems. Taking away the fear that is sometimes associated with high school exams and replacing it with interest and strong problem solving skills can build strong, confident students, who are able to assess new questions and solve unknown problems indepentently.

The most effective lessons are ones that the student themself finds interesting, so I like to get to know my students and cater lessons to their likes.
