Anabelle Zaris

I am a second year student at the University of Oxford, studying French & Spanish, and in my spare time I tutor students of varying abilities, ranging from beginner to advanced, including Primary, Secondary, GCSE, IB and A-level. I also offer tuition for the Oxford University Modern Languages Admissions Test (MLAT). Usually my first step is to get a gauge of what my students already know, so that we are able to build upon what they already know and spot gaps in their knowledge. A strong foundation in my view stems from a great understanding of the grammar, so a primary focus of our sessions is conjugation and translations involving a variety of tenses and modes. Once this base is established, students tend to find that speaking, writing and listening become more natural, and the growth in their confidence is notable. Tutoring for me is a very rewarding role as it allows me to help others improve their skill, and allows me to engage in new, creative and exciting ways with the languages I study.
