My teaching is highly individualised and structured, particularly for students with additional needs. I break down topics into small, manageable steps and use repetition, visual aids, and practical activities to support understanding and retention.

I prioritise building confidence first — many students struggle because they believe they “can’t” do it. I create a calm environment where mistakes are part of learning, and progress is regularly reviewed so students can see their improvement clearly.

For SEN learners, I adapt pacing, language, and task structure carefully, ensuring lessons are accessible while still maintaining high expectations.

I am currently employed as a tutor with EM Tuition, where I have worked for the past two years. The company works alongside county councils to provide education for students who are unable to access the mainstream school system. In this role, I have taught a wide range of ages and abilities — from Reception numeracy and phonics through to GCSE Maths and English, as well as KS3 History and Science.

Prior to this, I worked as a teaching assistant in a special needs college, where I gained experience leading and teaching a class of 15 students Functional Skills Maths. I have also worked in children’s play schemes, further developing my ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young learners.

Across all of my roles, I have developed a strong understanding of how to support students with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and social, emotional and mental health needs. I am experienced in working closely with families and external professionals to ensure consistency and progress. My sessions are always carefully planned but flexible, allowing me to respond to a student’s needs in the moment while still keeping learning purposeful and goal-focused. I believe every student can make progress with the right approach, patience, and clear structure.
