My tutoring style is deeply shaped by my experience as a university psychology lecturer, where I’ve learned that students engage best when learning feels active, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable. Over the years, I’ve seen that students retain information far more effectively when they are encouraged to question, discuss, and apply concepts rather than simply memorise them. Because of this, my lessons are designed to be highly interactive and student-centred, drawing on the same approaches that have consistently supported my undergraduates’ success.
Each session will combine core content teaching with practical activities that help students make meaningful connections between theory and exam requirements. I regularly integrate structured Q&A discussions, short problem-solving tasks, and application-based exercises to mirror the style of thinking required in psychology assessments. We will also review past papers and break down mark schemes so students can understand not just what to learn, but how to demonstrate it effectively.
To keep revision engaging, I use a mixture of flashcards, PowerPoint walkthroughs, and quizzes that introduce an element of fun while reinforcing key knowledge. These tools help students build confidence gradually, and they also allow me to identify areas that may need further support.
Most importantly, I aim to create a supportive and open learning environment. Students are encouraged to ask questions at any point—whether about the content itself, exam strategy, or even future aspirations and careers in psychology. My goal is not only to help students achieve strong grades, but also to help them enjoy the learning process and feel empowered in their academic journey.
