My approach to teaching is student-centred, interactive, and tailored to the individual learner. Having studied Psychology to postgraduate level at Queen Mary's university and worked as a Research Assistant at both University College London and Royal Holloway University, I understand that every student learns differently. I focus on building understanding before memorisation, helping students make connections between theories, studies, and real-world applications.

I particularly enjoy using examples from my own experiences in psychology research, forensic psychology, and policing to bring concepts to life. For example, when teaching topics such as memory, social influence, attachment, psychopathology, or research methods, I can draw upon practical examples from my work in victim support, safeguarding, and academic research to make the content more engaging and memorable.

My teaching style involves breaking down complex concepts into manageable sections, regularly checking understanding, and encouraging students to explain concepts back to me in their own words. I believe confidence is a key predictor of success, so I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. Identifying what we can work towards together!

For GCSE and A-Level Psychology, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique alongside subject knowledge, ensuring students understand not only what they need to know but how to apply that knowledge effectively in assessments. This I will teach alongside my breadth and depth in career knowledge in these sectors.
