Hi, I’m Aminah! ??

I’m currently studying Accounting and Finance at Aston University, and alongside university I tutor Maths online. I’ve always enjoyed Maths and especially enjoy helping someone understand something that they initially found difficult.

As a tutor, I’m quite patient and I don’t expect students to understand something immediately. If a method doesn’t make sense, we can take a step back, break it down and approach it differently. I also encourage students to tell me when they’re unsure rather than guessing or feeling embarrassed — mistakes are a normal part of learning.

I like lessons to feel conversational rather than like another classroom. I’ll ask questions throughout the lesson to make sure the student is following, give them opportunities to work things out independently, and step in when they need guidance.

I also understand that confidence can have a big impact on how a student performs in Maths. Sometimes a student knows more than they think they do, but becomes stuck because they’re worried about getting the answer wrong. I want my lessons to be a space where they can build that confidence gradually.

Since I’m still at university myself, I’m also very familiar with the experience of balancing schoolwork, revision and exams. I remember being a student and having those moments where a topic just wouldn’t click — so I know how valuable it can be to have someone explain it in a way that makes sense to you.

Most importantly, I want students to finish a lesson feeling like they’ve understood something they didn’t understand before. ??
