Amaya Butler

Oxford MSc graduate and First-Class English Literature tutor offering GCSE and A-Level English, History, and GCSE Music lessons. I offer both online and in-person lessons, all of which are carefully structured yet flexible, allowing me to adapt to each student’s strengths and areas for development. I place strong emphasis on close textual analysis, clear essay structure, and confident written expression, helping students feel more secure in their ideas and academic work. Lessons typically last 50 minutes and are tailored to the specific demands of each subject and exam level.

Alongside English, I also offer support in History at GCSE and A-Level, and GCSE Music, drawing on my academic background and A-Level results in all three subjects. I have experience as a teaching assistant and as a one-to-one tutor, including teaching and tutoring abroad, and work primarily with secondary-school students, with support also available for younger learners where appropriate.

A calm, supportive approach underpins my teaching, with an emphasis on clear communication and steady progress. My aim is to create an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their ideas, and building confidence over time.
