From my initial BA honours degree in Applied Linguistics/English at York to the PGCE at the Department of Education in Cambridge and subsequent teaching, examining, mentoring and leading, I have felt my calling to be that of leader, facilitator and communicator.
I address large lecture hall groups, congregations and audiences; taught classes of 30+ and small seminar tutorials and then more recently, worked one to one in honing skills and sparking children and adults in pursuit of learning goals.
I have taught English, Drama, Theatre Studies and ESL/EFL through the 5-18 age and ability range in many school settings, both in the private and public sectors. This has been with children and subsequently, with HE students and adult learners. I feel I have a keen eye for detail and pursuing excellence and have sought to be a clear practitioner in all that I have accomplished.
My various examining experience for QCA bodies, where generally the turnaround period is 3 weeks, include AQA English Literature, OCR Language; Cambridge GCSE and A level Language and Literature and International Baccalaureate English extended essays.
I love to explore creative routes into text. My interactive lessons will offer challenge, intrigue and play to learner needs.
Coupled with a sense of fun for me, has to be ownership in the cycle of learning and assessment rather than an impersonal red or green pen at the end of a script on the advantages of the ipad over the iPhone!
Strong love for words and the art of rhetoric!

I've seen Robin working with various groups of young people, to great effect. He's a creative and inspiring communicator and educator, and loves seeing young people engaging with the topic!

I have known Robin for just over 30 years and although I have never seen him teach, my wife has and found him to be a highly creative, innovative and enthusiastic colleague. I have worked with Robin on our church leadership team and have seen the difference that he has made to many of our male teenagers by mentoring them. He also leads our music group, many of whom are teenagers and have seen how he has developed their musicianship and them as individuals. He also has considerable experience in working for Examination Boards both as a marker and designer of examination questions.

Robin is an experienced teacher with a wealth of experience teaching in the state, private and charity sector. He's taught a range of subjects including English, drama, religious studies and music. I've been inspired by Robin's passion and enthusiasm as I've seen him teach children (and adults) in church settings.
