Hi, I’m Alistair, an 18-year-old Economics student at American University offering tutoring for both GCSE and A-Level Economics.
My lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I focus on helping students fully understand economic concepts rather than simply memorising content, using clear explanations, diagrams, and real-world examples to make topics easier to grasp and apply in exams.
For GCSE students, lessons focus on building a strong foundation in key topics such as markets, inflation, unemployment, and government policy, while also improving confidence with exam technique and data response questions. For A-Level students, I place a strong emphasis on essay structure, chains of analysis, evaluation, and using current economic examples effectively to achieve higher marks. Especially will dive into how to evlauate as I found evaluation was where I lost my most marks for my mock exams
Alongside teaching content, I also provide exam-style practice questions, essay feedback, revision support, and guidance on how to approach exams efficiently under timed conditions. Lessons are always adapted to the student, whether they need help catching up on difficult topics, preparing for mocks, or aiming for top grades.
Having recently completed A-Level Economics myself, I understand the challenges students face and what exam boards are looking for. My teaching style is approachable, supportive, and focused on helping students improve both their understanding and confidence in Economics. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, developing independent thinking skills, and steadily improving their performance over time through consistent support and targeted practice.
