I teach using the immersion method, on the basis of conversation, incorporating vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation etc. I ask the students what subjects they are interested in so as to provide appropriate reading material, as well as where their particular points of difficulty lie so that we can work on them together. When they are ready I will give brief writing assignments so I can pull up further errors. It is emphasized not to worry about making mistakes, these are only pointed out so the student can improve. The more the merrier. I will also present common idioms.

My experience started very young when I tutored adult foreigners in conversation at the NIghtingale Bamford School. I went on to teach 6 adults in a Meet Up using the novel I wrote: Mid-Manhattan, and crossword puzzles. I have been tutoring a Korean woman for many years by Whats App almost every day. I currently teach English conversation to the foreign born at the English Speaking Union in New York. I also have private students in English reading and writing. I am currently translating from English into French and revising my own translations, so would be very happy to help with written work.

Above all I like to make my lessons fun.

As for my French experience, I love to speak French, having grown up in a French school here in New York where all subjects were taught in French. I have the French baccalauréat and went on to study French literature at Bryn Mawr College.

My interests are science, medicine, international relations, the environment, art and music, to name a few. I play the piano and crochet for relaxation.
