Ali Ghanbarzadeh

Whether you want to strengthen your foundations, prepare for exams or tackle challenging university topics, I can help you make progress with a clear, structured approach.

You can ask questions freely, revisit anything you find difficult and learn at a pace that works for you. In our first lesson, we will discuss your goals, identify where you need support and work through a topic together. My aim is to help you become a more confident, independent learner.

Hello, my name is Ali, and I’m a university academic based in the UK. I have over 19 years of experience teaching mathematics and physics, and I enjoy helping students turn difficult ideas into something clear and manageable.

For me, teaching is about building confidence as well as knowledge. I find it particularly rewarding when a student who once struggled with a topic begins to understand it and enjoys solving problems independently. Beyond teaching, my interests include engineering, scientific research and how mathematics and physics explain the world around us.
Teaching experience
I hold a PhD in engineering and am an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton. My teaching spans university degree courses, A-level and GCSE mathematics and physics. I have received teaching awards, including an Inspirational Teaching Award, recognising my commitment to students’ learning.

I have taught students from the UK and internationally, including China, Brazil and Europe, and have delivered online tuition since 2020. As a former university admissions tutor, I have also advised students on university applications and consulted with UK grammar schools on admissions.

My lessons adapt to your pace, starting point and goals. We combine clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice to develop understanding, problem-solving skills and exam technique.
