My lessons are built around you: what you already understand, where you're getting confused, and what you actually need to get out of the session. Before we start working through content, I like to spend a little time figuring that out, because a lesson that targets the right gap is worth ten that don't.
In practice, sessions tend to be conversational rather than lecture-style. I'll explain concepts clearly, but I also ask a lot of questions, not to test you, but because talking through ideas is usually the fastest way to find where understanding breaks down. We'll work through examples together, and I'll often ask you to explain something back to me in your own words. That's not as uncomfortable as it sounds, and it works.
I teach Psychology, Criminology, Forensic Psychology and Research Methods from GCSE through to undergraduate and postgraduate level. I've spent six years teaching at universities including Goldsmiths, Middlesex University, London South Bank University and Global Banking School, and I've supervised dozens of students through dissertations and final-year projects. I know how these subjects are assessed and what markers are looking for.
For students working on essays or coursework, I focus on structure, argument, and use of evidence. For exam preparation, we'll work through past questions and build technique. I send materials in advance where it's helpful, and I'm always happy to look at drafts between sessions.
