I am a recent student that has come out of education, with two grade 9s in English Literature and English Language at GCSE level, as well as 2 A's in A-Level English Literature and English Language. I have a year's experience in tutoring children younger than I, and I would like to continue my work in helping students become more confident and ambitious in their studies.
In my lessons, I aim to primarily focus on the content offered by exam boards. This will contain going through things such as context, specific analysis and techniques when looking through literature or language pieces, as well on how to write cohesively. To achieve this, this work will be closely monitored by myself, with encouragement as well as prompts to help students reach their own answers and gain confidence in their work. I will also use good examples of other students' previous work, or draft my own responses in order to give students an idea of how to correctly structure their answers. Collective analysis of certain frameworks, quotes and other devices used in English literature and language may also be used in order to increase participation but also offering support when students are confused.
Other methods of revision will be displayed through PowerPoints and recall activities, such as flashcards or other memory-recall games. If needed, I will also go over key content in the curriculum over several times, such as key points in literature. This is only a rough guide of how lessons may be structured, as I can tailor sessions according to the needs of my students.
