I'm an Industrial Economics student at the University of Nottingham offering online GCSE Maths tuition for both Foundation and Higher students.
My lessons are focused on helping students understand topics properly rather than simply memorising methods. I usually begin by identifying the areas a student finds most difficult, explain the relevant content clearly, and then work through example questions together. After this, I encourage the student to attempt similar questions independently so I can see where they may be struggling.
We go through mistakes together and focus on understanding why an answer was incorrect and how to approach similar questions in the future. I also set focused homework based on the topics covered and review this in the following lesson to make sure the student has retained what they have learnt.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and can be adapted depending on the student’s ability, target grade and areas they want to improve. As exams get closer, I can also focus more heavily on past-paper questions, exam technique and identifying common mistakes.
I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE Maths and a B in A-Level Maths, and my degree involves regular use of mathematical and quantitative skills.
I aim to keep lessons relaxed and approachable so students feel comfortable asking questions, while still making sure we are consistently working towards measurable improvement.
