My lessons are structured but flexible, depending on each student’s needs and goals. I usually begin by identifying any topics the student finds difficult or would like to focus on, and then tailor the session around those areas.
I break down complex Biology concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations to make sure everything is fully understood before moving on. My aim is always to build strong understanding first, rather than just memorising content.
A key part of my lessons is applying knowledge through exam-style questions. This helps students become familiar with the way questions are asked in exams and improves their ability to structure answers effectively for marks. I also give guidance on exam technique, including how to approach longer questions and what examiners are looking for in top-grade answers.
A typical lesson may include clear explanations of key topics, active discussion to check understanding, and practice questions to build confidence. Lessons are interactive and supportive, allowing students to ask questions freely and learn at their own pace.
As I recently completed my GCSEs, achieving a grade 9 in Biology, I have a strong understanding of the current specification and exam techniques required for success. I am also continuing to study Biology at A-Level, which further strengthens my subject knowledge.
My goal is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable and confident. Whether the aim is to improve understanding or achieve top grades (7–9), my teaching would be tailored to support each student individually.
