I like to teach while we are talking. Choose a subject and start to talk. If there are any mistakes, I like to pause, highlight the mistake and start to deepen in the forms of that phrase to learn all the possibilities that the student can use. Then I like to ask the student to explain to me in his language the things that we just learned and give me some examples. That way, the students not only notice their mistakes but integrate the correct way to express what they want to say. I have always thought that learning a new language is not a matter of memory or hard work but an instance to relate things, understand your own language and start playing and speaking with someone. Learning a language doesn't have to be scary, on the contrary, it should be fun, challenging, yeah, but fun. I think of language as the code through which we understand the world, and if you can speak more than one tongue, the world will be a better-understood place for you. I like to use material, and some guides, but my style is through talking, listening and writing, and all three items can be done while we are on camera online, and the students will have tiny homework as writing in Spanish some ideas or narrating some situation they remember. I have teaching experience in other subjects, such as Music Theory and Creative Writing, both of them in Spanish, my native tongue, I am Chilean by the way.
