My lessons will take place online via Zoom and will be tailored to each student's individual needs, confidence levels and goals. I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while still maintaining focus and professionalism.
During lessons, I would ideally use a shared digital workspace such as OneNote so that both the student and I can write, work through calculations and annotate questions together in real time. To avoid passive learning, I will encourage students to talk me through their thought process and tell me what they think the next step should be to rectify gaps in their understanding.
Lessons can be based around topics the student finds challenging, questions they bring to the session, schoolwork, textbooks and resources such as Physics and Maths Tutor. I will also utilise GCSE exam-style and past-paper questions to develop exam technique and show students how to turn their mathematical understanding into model answers to maximise number of marks gained.
As a previous A-level Mathematics student, I understand how overwhelming maths can feel when a concept does not make sense at first. I therefore prioritise breaking problems down into simple, manageable steps and explain them in different ways until they click.
My overall goal is for students to leave each lessons feeling more confident than when they started and gradually become less reliant on my help. My upmost goal is to fulfil the potential of the student in order for their target grades to be reached.
