Adam Hennessy

I am a qualified English teacher with 13 years of experience teaching English Language and English Literature across KS3, and GCSE. During my teaching career, I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities, from those who find English difficult and need additional support through to high-achieving students aiming for the very top grades.

My approach to tutoring is simple: every student is different, so every lesson should be too. I will take the time to understand what you are confident with, where you are struggling and what you want to achieve before tailoring lessons around you.

I can provide support with GCSE English Language and Literature, essay writing, reading and analysis, creative writing, exam technique and revision. I can also help younger students develop their confidence in English and prepare for the demands of GCSE study.

Having spent 13 years in secondary education, I understand both the curriculum and what examiners are looking for. More importantly, I know that simply knowing English isn't enough to teach it well. My job is to explain difficult ideas clearly, break them into manageable steps and help students become increasingly confident working independently.

My lessons are relaxed and supportive, but they have a clear purpose. We will identify areas for improvement, practise them together and build towards measurable progress.
