Hi, I'm Abrar, a Cambridge History graduate currently completing an MRes in Interdisciplinary Studies. I tutor A-Level History, Sociology and Psychology, as well as GCSE History, and I know first-hand how overwhelming these subjects can feel when you're trying to juggle content, exam technique, and confidence all at once.
Every student learns differently, so lessons are built around you, rather than being a fixed script. We start by identifying exactly where marks are being lost: whether that's structuring essays, applying evidence, or understanding trickier concepts and build a plan from there. I break down exam-board requirements clearly, work through past papers and mark schemes together, and make sure you understand the why behind an answer, not just the what, so it actually sticks.
Sessions are structured but never rigid: a mix of explanation, guided practice, and past-paper work, with clear homework tasks to build on what we've covered. I'm big on breaking complex topics into manageable, memorable pieces. I've spent time developing structured teaching curricula and course content before, so I understand how to sequence learning so it builds progressively rather than overwhelming you.
My own academic training is in historical analysis and research at Cambridge, and I bring that same rigour and clarity to how I teach. I care about genuinely understanding my students' goals whether that's a grade boost, exam confidence, or simply enjoying the subject again and I adapt my teaching to get you there.
