I help students build confidence, clarity and skill in their learning, whether they are preparing for GCSE English or working towards success at university level.
With over 20 years’ experience in education, I am a qualified teacher, former Head Teacher, university lecturer, Student Success Coach, education coach and inclusion specialist. I have worked across schools, higher education, coaching, mentoring and student support, helping children, young people and adult learners make progress beyond what they first believed was possible.
For GCSE students, I offer focused support with GCSE English Language, including reading comprehension, analysis, inference, structure, comparison, evaluation, writing for different purposes and building clear, well-developed exam answers. I have worked as an Expert Examiner for GCSE English for over 10 years, giving me a strong understanding of what exam boards are looking for and how students can improve their responses, strengthen their exam technique and approach assessments with greater confidence.
I also support university students with academic confidence, assignment writing and degree success. As a Student Success Coach and former university lecturer, I have helped students understand assignment briefs, organise their ideas, improve their academic writing, plan essays and reports, manage deadlines, develop stronger study habits and successfully complete assessments. I understand that many students are capable, but can feel overwhelmed by academic expectations, writing demands, independent study, feedback, confidence issues or not knowing where to begin.
My sessions are designed to support both the subject content and the learning process. I do not simply tell students to “try harder”. I help them understand how they learn, what may be blocking progress and how to take clear, manageable steps towards improvement.

My approach is warm, professional and strengths-based. I create a calm and supportive space where students can ask questions, make mistakes, reflect honestly and grow in confidence.
Each session has a clear aim, practical activities and an agreed next step, so students leave knowing what they have achieved and what they need to work on next.
Students should come ready to learn, reflect and take positive steps towards growth and excellence. My role is to provide the support, structure, encouragement and tools to help them get there.
The aim is for every student to leave sessions feeling clearer, more capable and better equipped to succeed, whether they are preparing for GCSE English Language or working towards success in their degree.
