My lessons are relaxed but focused, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, not worried about getting things wrong. Each session usually starts with a quick check-in on what we covered last time and where things are at, so we're never just picking up cold. From there, I break the topic down into small, clear steps, working through examples together before moving on to something the student can try independently, with me on hand to help when they get stuck.

I use a mix of explanation, live demonstration, and hands-on practice, especially for programming, where actually writing and running code makes far more sense than just talking about it. I regularly check understanding as we go, rather than waiting until the end of a topic, so we can slow down or approach something differently the moment it's needed, rather than pushing ahead regardless.

I'm a qualified secondary Computing teacher (PGCE, QTS), with real classroom experience teaching programming, algorithms, and computer systems to pupils of different ages and abilities. I also hold a First Class degree in Digital Media and Communications, which I draw on to connect computing to practical, real-world examples rather than pure theory, something I've found makes the subject click for students who don't yet see why it's relevant to them.

My aim in every lesson is the same: build real confidence, not just get through content, so a student leaves each session feeling more capable than when they started.
