Will A-Level exams in 2025 be harder? This is not a yes or no question as certain factors and data must be considered. Record shows that the pass percentage and the proportion of students with top performance has remained relatively the same in the past ten to fifteen years. Another factor is the grade boundaries; data also shows that there has been little variation is the grade boundaries over the same period of time. Generally, it can be deduced that, though the course work and content may be getting harder, the relative performance of students would be similar to previous years.

It's difficult to predict if A-level exams in 2025 will be harder, as the difficulty often depends on the specific exam papers and how they are set by exam boards. However, changes in educational policies or curriculum adjustments could influence the perceived difficulty. If exams are deemed harder than expected, it's common for exam boards to adjust grade boundaries to ensure fairness. This process, called "scaling," is designed to reflect the relative difficulty of the exam and ensure that grades are comparable to previous years. If you’re preparing for A-levels, focus on consistent study and practice, as these efforts are crucial regardless of any changes. If you're concerned, keep an eye on updates from your specific exam board for guidance.

It's difficult to predict whether A-level exams in 2025 will be more difficult, given test difficulty can be influenced by a variety of factors such as curriculum revisions or question designs. Exam boards often seek for stability in difficulty year after year. However, if a test series is regarded more difficult than normal, grade limits are frequently altered to provide fairness to students and to preserve standards. If you're studying for the 2025 examinations, focussing on understanding the syllabus and practicing with previous test papers will give you confidence regardless of any changes.

A level exams may or may not be harder, it depends on how we prepare for the exam and the effort that we give for it. With smart and hard work we can get through the exams no matter how hard or easy it is.

As of January 2025, there is no official indication that A-level exams will be inherently more difficult compared to previous years. However, it's important to note that grading standards have returned to pre-pandemic levels, which means achieving top grades may be more challenging than during the years when adjustments were made due to COVID-19 disruptions

Preparing exam papers based on the curriculum on specific years would be the best way to analyse the difficulty of A level exams. Referring to examiner’s report, as well, should help you filter out commonly and correctly answered questions vs questions which would have tricked the cohort of students sitting the exam. It’s worth going over those questions

This is not really a relevant question for a student to ask. If they are harder, students will do less well. If they are easier, students will do better. If the proportion of each grade awarded is unchanged, the change in difficulty will be “corrected” by changing grade boundaries. None of this should concern students who should merely make their best attempts to succeed and stop worrying.

In principle, they will not be "harder", in the sense that the format and content does not vary dramatically from year-to-year. What is true, admittedly, is that they may appear more challenging when compared with the grade distributions encountered during the pandemic, as the latter saw the influence of inflated teacher-informed grades (particularly from private, rather than state, schools).

The difficulty or "hardness" level of Examinations in this case Advanced level (A Level) depends on two circumstances. 1. If students have gone through the syllabus and prepared well enough, their confidence is boosted and they are sure they will do well. However, it is unimaginable that all students can prepare adequately well. Consequently, A level exams in 2025 will be hard depending on student preparedness. 2. More often than not, there are changes in the format of the A level examination, also some topics remain uncovered by teachers in some schools meanwhile the area of examinations may cover that part of the syllabus. hence most students in that problem may complain about the examinations. All things being equal, prepared students who have covered the syllabus well must not think about difficulty in exams but rather how to finish and score well.

There is no a final answer to this questions as it's not sure how students will do yet. The main thing I could say is that nothing is sure yet, you never know what can happen, take the example of when the pandemic came, the grades and grade boundries were high for difficult exams and low for the easier ones. The best thing to do is focus a lot in the studies and give the best out of you, revise and revise :))

Grade boundaries are adjusted to represent a portion of students achieving each grade. As a result, if the population of students finds an exam difficult, boundaries are automatically adjusted accordingly. As for your first question there isn't really a straight-forwards answer.

Hey Paul, In response to your question, no, 2025 A level exams aren't meant to be harder than 2024 exams however, yes if they are grade boundaries will accommodate the difficulty of the paper; however, looking at 2024 grades and how many year 13s did not do as well as expected I highly doubt that this year they'll increase the difficulty of the papers. Hope this helps!

Grade boundaries are usually set based on the overall performance of candidates, so if a higher percentage of students struggle, the limits could be lowered to ensure fairness. Conversely, if students perform well, the boundaries may rise. Exam boards take a variety of factors into account, including historical data, to ensure a fair grading process, while the difficulty of the exams can't be predicted with certainty, adjustments to grade boundaries are a common practice if needed to reflect student performance.

A levels for 2025 are likely to be more challenging, whether that means they are harder is debatable. Grade boundaries are determined on the day the papers are marked, so difficult to know if they will be adjusted to compensate for harder exams.

It's uncertain whether A-level exams in 2025 will be harder, as exam boards continuously review and refine papers to ensure they align with the curriculum. If exams are perceived as more challenging, grade boundaries may be adjusted to ensure fairness and maintain consistency in results year to year.

Yes and yes. It seems to be a common thing that exams get harder as the years go on (mostly because students are still doing well - they HAVE to). Very rarely is an exam easier or as hard as a previous years. COVID was probably one of very few examples of this happening. Grade boundaries adjust to the results of the student body. So yes, the grades will adjust to performance. Still do your best though because it may not be in your favour.

Prepare yourself well, practice past papers, be focused while studying and repeat these again. No need to be afraid of exams, just study hard and you'll get through this easily. Good luck

It's possible that A-level exams in 2025 could be perceived as harder, especially if exam boards aim to address concerns about grade inflation from previous years or introduce more challenging content. However, exam boards typically adjust grade boundaries to account for variations in difficulty. If exams are more challenging, lower grade boundaries may ensure fairness, allowing students to achieve grades comparable to those of previous years. Ultimately, the goal is to maintain consistency and equity in grading standards across cohorts.
