Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the Mathematics Tutor position because, simply put, teaching math is what I genuinely love doing. While you will see on my resume that I recently earned my BSc in Nursing from Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Nursing, mathematics has always been my primary passion.
During my four years of nursing studies, I spent my free time tutoring. I’ve worked with over 100 students from Grade 1 up to Grade 12 through online classes, private sessions, and at coaching centers.
My approach to teaching math is straightforward: it shouldn't just be about memorizing formulas. I want students to build a real conceptual understanding. I actually bring a lot of my experience as a chess coach into my math tutoring. Just like in chess, I teach my students to look at a problem from multiple angles, think critically, and understand the logic behind each step rather than relying on rote learning.
My nursing background isn't disconnected from this, either—it taught me a great deal of patience, empathy, and how to recognize when a student is silently struggling. Plus, being fluent in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam has made it much easier for me to connect with a diverse range of students and break down complex concepts in a way that finally "clicks" for them.
I would love the opportunity to bring my enthusiasm for math and my hands-on teaching experience to your institution. Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I look forward to the chance to discuss how I can support your students.
Best regards,
Narottam Meena
