My Teaching Approach for Maths (Grades 3–12)
I use a scaffolded, stage-based approach tailored to each learner's development. For Grades 3–5, I build number fluency and confidence using visuals, games, and real-life examples like shopping and sharing. For Grades 6–8, I develop reasoning and problem-solving through fractions, algebra, and multi-step word problems, encouraging students to explain their thinking. For Grades 9–12, I focus on mastery, exam technique, and independent study, covering algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics with past papers and mock exams. Every lesson follows a consistent cycle: warm-up, concept explanation, guided practice, independent work, feedback, and plenary. I differentiate by pace and depth, integrate digital tools like GeoGebra and Khan Academy, and cultivate a growth mindset where mistakes become learning opportunities. I communicate regularly with parents and adapt my methods to each student's goals. Whether preparing for exams or building foundational skills, I make maths relatable, rigorous, and enjoyable. Every learner can succeed—my role is to find the way that works for them.
