I believe effective 1-on-1 tutoring starts with connection before curriculum. I begin with an informal, low-stakes diagnostic session—using interactive digital tools and open dialogue—to map out the child's baseline ability without inducing test anxiety. Simultaneously, I focus on building rapport by actively listening, weaving their hobbies into learning examples, and normalizing errors so they realize it is safe to take risks and ask questions. With their trust established and a clear diagnostic profile in hand, I design a customized learning roadmap with achievable milestones that build both competence and self-assurance.
