I offer French, Spanish and ESL (all levels) to children of all ages and adults

Advert description
I have been a passionate and empathetic foreign language teacher since 2001, working with every age group. I listen to my student's needs and make an assessment of his or her ability, learning style and personality, in order to personalise my lessons to that person's needs and accelerate their growth in the language. I use all kinds of digital resources, interactive platforms (in the case of English, from many from Cambridge English sources, such as Write and Improve, which offer immediate feedback, and I create a Google Drive folder for each student in order to keep documents, student work, resources and the means to look back at previous lessons when planning forward. I establish goals with the student and the steps to reach those goals, so the student understands what he or she needs to get done in between lessons, particularly in the case of exam preparation. For converstational classes, we refer to previous lessons' vocabulary and grammar before proceeding to the next steps (strengthening skills from previous content, or starting something new, which I find ways to attach to previous lessons, so that there is a natural and coherent transition of content, skills and levels.). If the student wishes, I also play guitar, sing and have successfully managed to get even the most recalcitrant students - teens and adults, not just primary school students - to sing along or even on their own, using songs with the target language and with particular grammar focus. I use these varied approaches with my French and Spanish lessons as well.

Even students learning through distance learning are people who need a sense of connection. That's exactly what I create, to make my students feel like we have known each other for a long time.

I first get to know my students online – their background, hobbies, passions, and values. I always find something interesting to add to demonstrate my understanding, empathy, and appreciation. In our initial conversation, I also assess their language level in the target language and their readiness to communicate in that language. Part of this process also includes assessing their learning style and, if applicable, their time management, in order to know how much free time practice I should assign and what kind of activities the student needs most.

I also provide a shared Google Doc, which is part of a file I create for the students on Google Drive and contains all the keywords, phrases, and links to external resources. I refer back to these documents in subsequent lessons so that students can review previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and grammar. These documents are always integrated into the current and future lessons, ensuring a holistic learning experience that builds upon previous lessons. For the Cambridge training, I use the Cambridge website directly for exercises in all four communication areas, drawing on past tests. Furthermore, I use the Cambridge "Write and Improve" platform, which assesses students' writing based on content, correct register, the quality of words and expressions used, and structure/organization. Students can view their English level in real time via Zoom. They are also asked to prepare short or longer presentations, which I evaluate with constructive and helpful feedback. I have the ability to foster a growth mindset in my students, where mistakes are a welcome and important part of their progress.

My daughter really enjoyed the lessons with Evie. She actually did not feel as though they were lessons but play, which helped her stay focused. I wanted my girl to maintain her fluency in English even though she had school in another language and the lessons with Evie were concentrated intelligent play that inspired her to speak. There were lots of costumes for role play and all kinds of toys, also 3D scenery for kids to create a "farmer's market" and practice not only English but also numerical skills. Thank you Evie for your effort and your patience!

EVie gives the online lessons to my 14years old daughter. Evie creates lessons according to her interests. She uses simplified texts of classic books, discusses with her the lyrics of her favorite songs. She has a creative approach. My daughter always really looks forward to her lessons with Evie. She is much more confident in using the English language.

I was a student in the Volkshochschule in Bonn and I miss the English lessons with Evie very much. The lessons were active and joyful. The time flew by and I learned a lot at the same time. She made the class is entertaining and personable. She makes me feel at home with English and, explaining grammar and vocabulary very well. I usually hate studying grammar. But it was fun with Evie.
