Advert description
I hold an MSc in Data Science with Advanced Practice (Distinction) from Northumbria University, and I've worked as a Data Analyst across audit, real estate, and oil & gas industries, using Python, SQL, and machine learning daily in my job. My dissertation involved building and comparing deep learning models (CNNs) for image analysis, and I've also worked as a Prompt Engineer reviewing and evaluating AI model outputs for accuracy, so I understand both how AI systems are built and how they're evaluated in practice.
When I teach, I focus on making AI and machine learning concepts genuinely understandable rather than just technically correct. I start by understanding what the student already knows and what they're trying to achieve, whether that's passing an exam, understanding a concept for work, or building their first project. I use real datasets and practical examples rather than abstract theory alone, break complex ideas (like neural networks or model evaluation) into simple, step-by-step explanations, and encourage students to try things hands-on rather than just watching. I'm patient, and I check understanding regularly rather than assuming it, so students actually leave each lesson able to apply what they learned.
