Advert description
I currently collaborate with the English department at Newbridge School to develop engaging lessons for the students. Since moving to Worcester, I have spent the last five months working in the English department. Working with training providers is very different from working in a school environment.
Teachers are regarded as a source of knowledge because learners gain crucial skills from their teachers. A range of techniques are used by teachers to provide learners with knowledge that they require. Such as roles, responsibilities and relationship within the education sector, the role of a teacher involves supporting, encouraging and having the require knowledge at a sufficient level. The responsibility of a teacher is to ensure the correct knowledge and to make sure learners have an equal chance of achieving well. A relationship with learners so that they can approachable if they have any concerns and need extra help, and be able to co-operate with other teaching staff in order to provide the highest quality of education. As Petty says “They need to be set achievable but challenging goals” (Petty: 2004:85) In one lesson it is a key pointer to use more than one learning style, which makes the lesson much more interesting and it is a teacher’s role to ensure they are creating a positive learning environment for learners.
Newbridge School is well known for its capability of working as a team and its high level of
behaviour management. As I participate in regular meetings in the morning and the afternoon, the IST department is able to develop new techniques to strengthen participation in the classroom by highlighting specific student behaviour issues.
As part of my job, I also complete a point system that determines whether learning has occurred for other staff members. I also attend monthly standardisation meetings, which allow the school to work as a team working from the same page. I find meetings useful and I am learning on the job as well from very experience members of the education sector.
