Advert description
I am an artist, photographer, educator and producer. I have worked in further and higher education for 15 years teaching across photography, film and art & design - primarily focused on age groups from 16+
As a community art educator I have worked with students at GCSE level, and have also taught photography and art at A Level with Eduqas and WJEC exam boards.
I have worked in arts and education management, helping to develop courses at FE and degree level. Teaching is a passion rather than a job for me - I love my subjects and am an enthusiastic educator. I favour a non-hierarchical, collaborative form of learning, encouraging curiosity and exploration.
I will spend time with students to identify individual interests and needs in helping them find their personal creative voice. I have worked with students with a wide range of learning styles and am an adaptable educator who listens to the needs of his tutees. I am highly experienced in teaching both technical skills and theory, context and project development.
My technical skillsets include both digital and traditional photographic techniques. I have been teaching photoshop, lightroom and InDesign for over a decade and using them in practice for 20+ years. When delivering practical sessions I like to embrace alternative materials and techniques which consolidate the fundamentals of a range of artistic and photographic processes.
Former students of mine have gone on to complete masters and PhDs, publish and exhibit work nationally and internationally and establish successful creative practices.
In addition to teaching I maintain a personal art practice exhibiting work and publishing books.
