Advert description
Hi :) My name is Katerina and as a recent graduate of French and English Language, I am highly passionate about helping people rewire their attitude towards language and approach language learning with a playful, curious and relaxed attitude. I currently hold a C1 in French, but I also have experience with learning German post-A-Level at university and I speak some Russian due to my family background. Put simply, I have plenty of experience with learning languages (including with approaches that I didn't find very helpful!) and I am keen to share my knowledge and passion with others. On top of this experience as a learner of multiple languages, I am familiar with fundamental issues surrounding language(s) as a whole due to the English Language portion of my degree, such as Second Language Acquisition, English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) vs English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and debates around which types of language are considered societally valid. This linguistics knowledge has strongly informed the sorts of language instruction approaches I personally believe to be the most helpful.
I seek to help students develop a positive and sustainable relationship with language learning that will take them all the way from beginner level to fluency. I offer tutoring support for French learners up to and including B2 (upper intermediate), meaning that I am able to support students up to and including A-Level. I can help with preparing for specific examinations, such as speaking exams or essay writing, or with simple language maintenance and improvement. I believe that it is vital that language learning is an enjoyable process (I am a big proponent of Krashen's Input Theory and would like to keep your affective filter as low as possible!), so I am more than happy to tailor our lesson content to your personal interests - I love discovering new subject domains of French, so I will be delighted to read around your chosen interests outside of class!
