I have an undergraduate degree in Spanish and French as well as a Higher Diploma in Advanced Languages and Global Communication. I have over 2 years experience in teaching, mainly in settings abroad which has helped me learn a lot of cultural information, making classes much more interesting! I enjoy working with students of all ages (as I have worked with primary school kids to university students) and abilities and I think cultural information can really enhance the language learning experience. E.g. learning about the food from a country can be a great way to encourage learning how to use a verb/ new vocabulary.

Aoife in a nutshell

While I can cater to the needs of the student and have a more formal structure for students preparing for exams, my lessons often take the form of activities which takes the stress out of language learning while being an encouraging form of learning for the student. For certain aspects of the language e.g. grammar, I cover formal exercises (both written and spoken) to ensure the concept is understood before turning to the fun and games! I also find that introducing step by step conversation (even at the most basic level) is extremely useful for working on elements such as pronunciation, errors and general confidence in expression.
