Advert description
Are you passionate about learning languages? So am I! I absolutely love Modern Languages (German and French). I have found learning and teaching languages to be so enjoyable and rewarding. Being able to communicate in a foreign lanugage has, quite literally, changed my life. It has enriched my life and given me opportunities I would never have had if I hadn't followed this path.
I have a BA Hons in German and Politics and a PGCE in German and French from Homerton College, Cambridge. I started teaching English as a foreign language to adults (qualified) in 1994, whilst living and working in Germany.
I completed my teaching PGCE in 1999 and have been working as a languages teacher ever since. I have also spent 18 months in Tanzania with VSO teaching Communication and Study Skills in a Teacher training college where I learned Swahili. I have taught German from beginners up to A level. I have experience tutoring young children, GCSE, A level and adult learners. I have taught French from year 3 to GCSE and IGCSE level, the latter during a year teaching at an international school in Tanzania. I have been a head of German and Modern Languages in several schools, where I doubled the uptake in German at GCSE and have achieved very good exam results at both German and French GCSE.
Whether you want to pass an exam or learn a language for fun and out of interest in language and culture, I am flexible and adaptable in catering for your needs. I also have many years experience sucessfully teaching neurodivergent learners. I offer online learning and in-person sessions within a 5 mile radius. I am fully DBS checked and have availability late afternoon, evenings and weekends.
