Very Experienced History Tutor with an MPhil in Medieval History

History enthusiast who achieved an A* grade in A-Level history and subsequently completed a Master of Philosophy in Medieval History at the University of Cambridge. I tutor history at A-Level and university level. I can tutor a variety of topics but please consult with me first to check if I can cover a topic. My focus will not only be upon knowledge required for the syllabus but also upon understanding the specific requirements of the relevant exam board's mark scheme. This is essential in ensuring that students can be confident of achieving the highest grade possible. I will also concentrate upon wider general knowledge beyond the textbooks which will equip students with golden nuggets of information allowing them to impress examiners by standing out from other candidates. This is particularly important in essay-based subjects like history. Regarding essays I am happy to advise on content, structure and suggest relevant literature.

My teaching methodology involves talking pupils through their relevant history syllabus step by step. I avoid gimmicks, instead opting to keep it simple to prevent overcomplicating matters. Depending on the needs of individual pupils, I can talk them through and explain historical events in a chronological manner or make more active quiz based lessons to test knowledge on requested areas. I have taught over 1000 lessons.
