PhD Mechanical Engineering: Machine Learning, Data Science, Fluid/Solid Mechanics, MATLAB, Python

I’m Gloria! I am a data scientist with a focus on engineering applications. I specialise in machine learning, Bayesian inference, data analysis, statistics, and fluid/solid mechanics. I am also proficient in engineering software packages such as MATLAB and programming languages such as Python.

I hold a PhD and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc in Data Analytics, Computer Science. During my PhD, I have published a paper in a cutting-edge journal along with several papers at world-leading international conferences. I have involved in several teaching roles throughout my undergraduate studies and have provided help and mentorship to colleagues and friends during my graduate studies. I enjoyed communicating with students and felt rewarded when I saw their improvements. My bilingual skills (Mandarin-English) might also be helpful to some students.

I am happy to tutor high school students or university students who needs help on engineering and coding classes. Regarding my teaching style, my empathetic nature will lead me to first understand your goal and situation – what you want to achieve and what makes it difficult to do so. I will then make a plan tailored to your specific requirements, whether you want to focus on an assignment or work through a topic you find difficult. I like to identify and fill the core gaps in understanding – perhaps a concept your teacher/professor did not explain clearly.

I am very open to different learning styles, resources, and suggestions. I do believe that having hands-on practice is the most effective way to learn mathematics and computer programming.
