Qualified UK teacher offers friendly/supportive primary-KS3 Maths & primary-GCSE English

Advert description
I am a qualified teacher and ex-Head of Department, with extensive experience in UK state schools. During COVID I tutored in both primary and secondary schools for the government's National Tutoring Programme. I now run my own one-woman tuition business offering personalised, friendly and supportive face to face or online tuition. I am an English graduate with a Masters degree, and hold a further Masters in Business/Management, so can also support GCSE Business Studies and other Business-related subjects.

I currently tutor children across the age ranges from Year 2 to Year 12. I am a champion of reading for pleasure as a key to developing wider English skills, and like to encourage and support enjoyable reading in my English tuition from KS1 to GCSE. I can support phonics development and have extensive experience of building skills ahead of SATs assessments in Year 6 and through the transition to secondary school. I have also successfully supported students for entrance examinations to local independent schools. At GCSE level I have particular experience of supporting children of all abilities with the the AQA Language and Literature specifications, but can support exam preparation for any exam board.

In Maths I can support all aspects of the curriculum from KS1 through to KS3. I generally support those who find Maths more challenging and who may be working at Foundation level and wanting to become more secure and confident in their skills. I have specialised in working with children in Years 5/6 and in building skills ahead of the SATs assessments and then through the transition to secondary school in Years 7/8.

I have experience of supporting children with a range of individual learning support needs, including neurodivergence. I tailor my tuition support to each individual student and believe most progress is made when a student enjoys their learning and feels comfortable to have a go, make mistakes and learn from those mistakes in a non-pressured and encouraging environment.

I am a member of the Tutors Association and the Chartered College of Teaching and hold a current DBS Certificate.
