My lessons are tailored to your academic and personality needs

I have a minor in English Literature with a major in Sociology. My specialty is tutoring students in conversational English. The focus is on pronunciation and colloquial expressions to increase clear and coherent communication. I also specialize in academic writing with emphasis on the application of grammar conventions and punctuation. Sentence craft and fluency are foundational elements to successful writing. Reading is part of the process to writing. By synthesizing reading and writing, the students learn with ease. My interests and knowledge are eclectic, and I can tailor my lessons to students' interests.

I monitor the students' progress through differentiated assessment beginning with a pre-assessment to inform my next steps based on evidence. As I tutor, I use verbal feedback, anecdotal, online quizzes, and encouragement. After goals have been meet, my culminate assessments include tests, essays with chec-brics, meaningful projects with rubrics, or a creative assignment with anec-brics. Students complete the pre-assessments to compare the students' progress.

While my experience is working with Grades 4 to 6 students on Indigenous issues in Canada: A Process of Decolonization, I can teach various age groups. I look forward to working with you.
